REIGNING IN LIFE
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Romans 5:17.
Sin that resulted into death affected the reigning ability of man, but Jesus comes that through Him; through righteousness, we may reign again in life.
Salvation and the message of salvation causes us to enter the life of God; causing us to be reconciled with God. When you get born again, the journey of reigning begins. The reason why Jesus died is that we might be redeemed from sin, enter the kingdom and begin to reign with Him. Those that receive Him (Christ) become agents of the kingdom here on earth. They begin to implement the very life/will of God which is in heaven here on earth.
Why is Uganda 86% Christian but one of the most corrupt nation, ranked highly when it comes to alcohol consumption, prostitutes are everywhere, prisons are full beyond capacity and a lot of broken marriages especially among Christians? One of the major reasons is because the church has not understood why Jesus came. We tend to pick on one element which is salvation and focus more on the salvation gospel hence not reaching the level of reigning together with Christ in life.
The reason why Jesus tells His disciples to go make Him disciples of all nations is that the gospel of the kingdom may reshape people’s mindset according to the kingdom of God and eventually, the culture of the kingdom of God begins to manifest on earth. Believers in offices and businesses beginning to operate them according to the principles of the kingdom of heaven. And so they will reign on earth because of righteousness.
2Ch 12:9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
2Ch 12:10 Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king’s house.
Looking at us believers, and the Christian life, there is that which Jesus died for, which is real, that the church might reign on earth, but instead of gold, we settle for bronze shields. We live life as though we are beggars and the weakest people on earth; settling for a defeated life, yet the bibles says that in righteousness we shall reign in this life.
When you pray, fast, and seek the Lord, what is the focus? We do all this but our character and attitude does not change because we focus on receiving somethings from God. But when it comes to our real purpose on earth, we don’t walk in it. When you pray and fast, your life should be reconnected back to God and to His purposes for your being. Therefore you find yourself being sensitive to what the Lord wants to accomplish through you.
When we seek God, but with the mindset of the bronze shield, we shall be around, but our lives shall have no impact. You will get somethings like family, money, may be build houses, but when it comes to reigning in your sphere of influence, you will be limited because you had a miss understanding of what the kingdom of God is and what salvation is exactly.
Our nation is 86% Christian but the nation has not been disciple. We pray, fast, worship, go to church but our hearts have not connected with the reason why God saved us. We focus on the bronze shield; bless me Lord, heal me, bless my family yet the world is also running after the same things, but when it comes to the church bringing light in the darkness, it is still a mystery.
Jos 14:6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.
Jos 14:7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
Jos 14:8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
Jos 14:9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
Jos 14:10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
Jos 14:11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
Jos 14:12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said. Joshua 14:6-12.
Many of us are in our 20’s, 30’s, 40’s or even 50’s but the way we behave, there is no ambition, passion and determination to go forth for what God wants to do through our lives. We have many in the kingdom of God but are sited and are not taking over their areas of influence to see God manifesting through them.
